The Tomboli Nature Reserve

On the coast of Cecina there is one of the most beautiful Italian forests, the Tomboli Nature Reserve.
The tomboli are dunes covered with vegetation that fade from the sea to the inside of the coast; right here the Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopoldo decided to create this forest to defend the fields cultivated by the winds and the saltiness coming from the sea.
The Reserve stretches for 15 kilometers and boasts many types of plants and flowers; on the beach there are the lily and the sea poppy, then meet the junipers until you get to the holm oaks and pines. Inside there are several paths to follow on foot, by bike or on horseback, during these walks you will have the opportunity to meet the many animals that inhabit this reserve, such as rabbits, foxes, weasels, porcupines and roe deers.
The trails are suitable for everyone and anyone can enjoy this reserve while walking in nature.
